Pelican Paddleboat Covers

Talking with a friend who has a Pelican Paddleboat this morning, she mentioned that with all of the wind and rain we've received lately, her boat was taking a beating. She had small limbs and leaves covering the boat and she had to spray it clean before using it.

Of course, me being me, I asked why she hadn't put a cover on it. My friend responded that she thought they were too expensive and didn't think she needed one.

Well, I told her that she could get a good one for $30 or under and that the damage that a falling branch could bring (dent or scratching the paint) could easily make up the price of the cover.

So, anyways, I talked her into getting a cover for her Pelican Paddleboat and now she's saying it was her idea! Geesh!

But what are friends for, right? Here are few covers that I found under the $30 range. Check 'em out and see what you think.Search Amazon.com for paddleboat covers

Pelican Paddleboat Express!

I'm just now getting to make this post about our excursion to a local park with water access this past weekend.

WE HAD A WONDERFUL TIME!

Sorry, was so excited I got ahead of myself . . .

My husband and I decided to head off to a water spot this past Sunday and since my middle son, Adam, had the day off, he came with us.

We're thinking of upgrading our paddleboat, so we checked what the local park had available and rented a boat there.

We spent about 4 hours paddling around, just being lazy, drinking our diet cokes and swapping jokes. Got a little bit of windburn (we used sunscreen, so no sunburn) and got a great workout at the same time.

Talk about a relaxing day. The paddleboat we rented was nice, but somehow we want just a little bit more room available (with Adam along, it wasn't that it was tight, but there wasn't much room left over for the cooler) for the extras on our new paddleboat.

Hopefully, within the next couple of weekends, we'll go to another park and check out more paddleboat models.

Hey, it's a great excuse to get out on the water more often, right?

When was the last time you got into YOUR paddleboat and just relaxed the day away?
Enjoy!

We Went Fishing Instead of Paddleboating!

Yeah, while fishing isn't MY favorite thing to do, I will occasionally accompany my husband while he goes pier fishing. Of course, while he brings a fishing pole and a tackle box, I bring a good book to read and a folding chair! Yeah, sad, I know, but it works for us.

This way he gets to fish, we still spend time together, and he doesn't mind that I read while he fishes. We both get to spend time near the water, enjoy the sound of the birds and the rippling water, and the occasional conversation when something happens. Personally, I think one of the reasons he likes this is so that there is another person there to take his picture for when he catches the "BIG" one! hehehe

Anyways, I did take a few pics while we were at Holiday Park (in Southern Florida) this morning and I've added them to the sidebar for your viewing. There were some airboats giving passengers rides into the Everglades while we were there, most of them waved to us, so I took some pics of them, too.

Hope you enjoy them.

A Pelican Paddleboat - When You Need To Relax!

When you need to get away from the "hustle and bustle" of everyday stressful life, there isn't anything to beat throwing the paddleboat in the back of the truck and heading off to a nearby body of water to go paddling OR pedaling!

You should always have a few adult life jackets and children's jackets on hand for safety sake, as well as a good first aid kit, preferably one in an air tight, waterproof container.

A waterproof flashlight should also be in your "list to have with you" items when you go boating of any kind.

I also recommend having 2 more items always with you in any kind of water craft, an extra paddle with a "boat grip" is a real good idea in case something happens and so is a pack of survival blankets. I don't care how low maintenance this kind of boat craft is, LIFE HAPPENS!

It pays to be prepared and having these few extra items could make the difference in being comfortable or at least "safe" in an emergency or being in trouble!

Stay safe and have a GREAT time paddling around!

My Family Has Paddleboated in Two States - Maine and Florida!

Yep, since we still have family in Maine and we live in Florida, those are the two states we have always had immediate access to some sort of paddleboat, whether it is a pedal boat or a canoe.

I've included some pics of the family in our boats having a grand old time, just paddling and pedaling away easily in no hurry to get anywhere.

Talk about the ultimate relaxer!

Pelican Paddleboat - The Ultimate Relaxer!

Wow! Have you EVER paddled with your best friend or spouse on a pond or lake in a paddleboat?

If you haven't, you need to place it on your list of "Things To Do!"

Really, the feeling of peace and quiet that just surrounds you as you pedal away from civilization, as you round a bend and experience a different world than you are used to, the calm of the water, no traffic, no stoplights, no blaring horns or bad mufflers. . .

Sounds nice, doesn't it?

Have access to a pond, canal, river, or lake close by? All you need is a little bit of flat water available and you are good to go for a quiet afternoon of fun and relaxation. Maybe a picnic on the water or waterside or time spent alone with the spouse or kids?

Check this link out and see if maybe this could be YOU on the next weekend . . .
